Below, some vocalizations of the Straight-billed Woodcreeper Dendroplex picus are presented. All sounds were recorded in Mãe-da-lua reserve in the state of Ceará in NE Brazil. Please note that the time scale of the sonograms varies between recordings.
Song of Straight-billed Woodcreeper (Dendroplex picus)
10/01/2010, 05h21. RPPN Mãe-da-lua, Itapajé, Ceará, Brazil. h1785. (c) H. Redies.
Sound h1785. This is the most frequently heard song of the Straight-billed Woodcreeper, mainly given during dawn, but also at other times of the day. The sonogram depicts the second of the two songs in recording h1785 (starting at 18.5 s).

18/03/2012, 06h28. RPPN Mãe-da-lua, Itapajé, Ceará, Brazil. h1772. (c) H. Redies.
Sound h1772. Another song of the Straight-billed Woodcreeper, differing from h1785 in length, pace, and note shape. The song was given in response to playback, by a bird that approached me and then moved around me, flying from tree to tree.

Song of Straight-billed Woodcreeper (Dendroplex picus)
11/02/2012, 09h57. RPPN Mãe-da-lua, Itapajé, Ceará, Brazil. h1784. (c) H. Redies.
Sound h1784. Yet another song of Dendroplex picus, which sounds quite different from the previous ones. I saw two birds together on a tree trunk while I recorded, but I cannot tell whether the sound is produced by only one, or by both birds. The sonogram shows the first of the two loud instances of the song (starting around 6 seconds). Note differences in timescale between sonograms.
